i have a crested and im thinking of making a natural set up. Can i see some pictures?
Also can anyone give directions how to set up the substrate and wat plants to use?

this is the only hatural encosure i have.  it has pothos plants and peat moss as bedding

samantha gave some great instructins on how to set up a nice eco system. hurmmm... where is it hideing? i just printed out a copy for myself. Wink i'll keep looking.

How big is your crested?  If it's still a baby or a juvie, it's not such a great idea to do natural substrate as they can become impacted pretty easy...

i use fake plants but have a bioactive eco earth substrate.? you just spray all the waste down to the bottom once a week and stir up the dirt so it gets buried and keep it moist underneath and bacteria will break it down.

as for live plants, i think cresteds prefer ficus for the structure.

ficus and pothos are the two that i have been able to keep alive and that the crsteds seem to really enjoy.
the pothos for its nice broad leaves
and the ficus for the climbing playground

im hoping to get to try some newer plants soon
