I'm trying to find something that can get rid of parasites from w.c. geckos.  I read that some people use panacur but when i searched for it I only found it for horses, dogs and goats, am I looking at the right thing?  Do you use dog medicine for geckos? or is there another type of panacur for reptiles

Yeah-you have the right stuff.

My kitten was treated with it, and she's doing great.

I'll call the vet tech I know tomorrow and ask her about the dosage.

I'll get back to you in the morning-after I talk to her.

LOL-Licky is sitting on my mouse as I type...

Yeap that is the stuff, they have to dilute it down quite a bit for the geckos. Smiley

Yes they dilute with water, I treated my wild caught leaftail with it.
Though I'm not sure how much he diluted it. I think that there is a body mass ratio on the bottle.

So sorry-

I over-slept today, and missed Chrissie-the vet-tech.

I'll be up early tomorrow, and I'll ask her about the gecko dose for Panacur.

Thanks.
I kindof found the dose.  Our reptile store has used it before and they showed me today the dose to use for them.  Now I just have to order some.

Is it injected?  I don't think I could stick a needle in my gecko, I would be worried about doing something wrong!

They put it in a syringe without the needle and put it on the gecko's nose, the gecko will lick it up.

A little late but...

You can get panacur through http://www.beanfarm.com/store/agora.cgi?cart_id=1424100.30581*ZM5Ch5&product=Health%20Care&user4=Medications/Aids along with some other meds. Different parasites will need different meds.  I suggest getting "Understanding Reptile Parasites A Basic Manual for Herpetoculturists & Veterinarians" by Roger J. Klingenberg D.V. M. It's cost around $10, along with a fecal so you know which parasite you need to treat for.

You want to give panacur orally.  This is how i give mine...After a little practice and a few bites. If i gently rub the side bottom jaw almost to the mouth they will open thier mouth.  When they do I put the syringe in the side of the mouth and slowly administer.

Good luck.
