 Most people over here don't even use incubators for ciliatus eggs. Just a tupperware container with a few small holes (for ventilation) and a mixture of 2-to-1 or 3-to-1 water and vermiculite (by weight) some people do the same thing using perlite.It all depends on you're preferences.

I use a deli cup, like you ship the geckos in with the holes already punched in them. Put moist vermiculite in it and sit it anywhere, it doesnt have to be in the terraruim.  I keep mine on a desk in my room and stays between 74-78 degrees.

I keep mine on top of one of the screened cages.  If i'm going to be sitting at my desk I'll move it to my desk.  It doesn't really matter where you put it.  You probably don't want to be putting it somewhere in direct sunlight or where it will be experiencing drastic temperature changes.  Just be careful if you're going to be carry it around with you because you're sure the eggs are going to hatch and you don't want to miss it (like I do )  because I dropped the whole thing with 15 eggs in it!  Luckily none of the eggs have died from it and it's been almost two weeks since I dropped it.

What are limps?  I put a top on it if that's what you mean

The moisture shouldn't make the eggs rot.  You really don't want water; just the vermiculite/perlite to be saturated.  The eggs need to humidity otherwise they won't survive.

Ok.  You do close it but be sure to put holes in it if you're not using a container that doesnt already have them..  The vermiculite should be moist but not where you can squeeze water out of it.  I use 1 parts water to 2 parts vermiculite and has always worked well for me.

That's ok    I understood most of it.  Here's some pics of how I do mine.  Hope this helps.  I use the big one for when I get 8 or more eggs at one time and the smaller one when I only had one female

Great post, I like the pics of the cups, very helpful.  How many eggs could comfortablly fit in the small deli container?  Also, have any of you had any mold problems?  Specifically the white fuzzy, and the green that looks like bread mold?

I could fit 4 comfortably, I had 6 at one time but they were really close together, so i started using the bigger one.  I had 12 in the big one and could have fit a lot more in there.  I've only had one egg to get mold, the white fuzzy kind, it was from my cream back female this year on her first clutch.

Thanks for the info.  Yea, I know mold shouldn't be a problem, but I have lost two clutches to it so far this summer.  Maybe I got a contaminated bag of vermiculite.  I think I am going to get a new one and boil the heck out of it for the next clutches.

Could be.  I've never seen the green mold on eggs before.  I had a corn snake lay 5 eggs and all caved in and molded.

When I started this whole breeding thing I didn't really thing I would have eggs.  Right now I've got 16 eggs in a medium deli container.   I plan on having a separate container for each female within the next week.  I have no more room and I'll probably have 2 more eggs tomorrow.

I use Lock & Lock containers (Walmart) and drill holes in the lids and sides as the Lock & Lock is air tight when closed.



I put moist perlite into the container, put my eggs in about halfway, with a finger's width between clutches, and leave in my pantry (safest place and cat free).

I've had a few eggs go bad and mold, but no problems with mold actually growing on the perlite.

I really, really like the Lock & Lock because they lock closed, so no lids accidently popping off, and no risk of a hatchling escaping. They also "claim" 100% humidity and I've actually use a Fluker's Hygrometer so I can watch the temperature and the humidity levels. I know a lot of people don't watch humidity levels, but this is what works for me. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, lol. So I do what I do.
