I don't care.  They have everything I need plus, and cheaper than everywhere else.  Everything is always 10 times cheaper there, so why waste my money somewhere else when I can get it there half off?

lemmie say this once, the reason it is so much cheaper there is because they pay their worker's nothing and offer no benefits. zilch.
they bully farmers into selling for less then their produce is worth - causing the government to give them subsidies to make up the loss. you know who pays those subsidies - we do, with our government taxes. that's the real price of food.
they undermin quality by posting misleading signs (non organic milk labeled as organic).
they put up stores in low income areas, around mom & pop stores, forcing your neighbors to go out of business and loose everything. whole towns have been massacred.

people before profit dude.
i'm not intending to get in an argument about this issue. i just wanted to share my side of the world.

So let me ask you this... Do you buy everything that was made in America or do you buy things that were made in China?  What do you think they get paid?  They are doing something right, they have stores EVERYWHERE and EVERYBODY shops there.  If people don't want to work there then don't... if they HAVE to work there because they can't find a job somwhere else, then at least they have something.  I don't exactly make a ton of money, so when I can save money, I do.  And Walmart is the best place to do so and I'm pretty sure the other millions upon millions of people feel the dame way.

 but another thought i had was- ok, so someone in the third world country is working for less money, but they are working. apparently that job is important to them. without it, they might starve. no it's not right, but it's all they have. they are lucky to have it. by supporting walmart, i am feeding THAT family.

Ok, and what do you think about all the people working at Walmart?  You think they are working there for nothing?  They are working there to feed there families and eat just like the people in the third world countries.  I mean seriously, not to be mea nto anybody working atWalmart or anything, but when you walk into walkmart, what do you see?  You see disables people and people that look like they just came off the street corner or high school dropouts.  They now have jobs and probably didn't before.  And you know why, because Walmart is giving people like them jobs.  No they aren't paying them a ton of money or anything, but at least they are getting paid and feel like a real working person now.  You are pretty much guarenteed a job at Walmart if you want it.

If Walmart shut down, how many people would be out of work making NOTHING?  Not only the people working at Walmart, but look at all the products they sell.  They may not be maying a ton of money for the produce and the products but they are obviously paying more than it costs to make.  So if they shut down, all the companys that were selling a ton of products to them would lose workers because they wouldn't be making as much money as they did.  AND people would be paying alot more for the things they need than they did before.  Walmart is giving a ton of people jobs and giving other people products for a good price.  I don't see how anybody could think Walmart is a bad thing...

I worked for Wal Mart for 4 months and to put it nicely, they suck big time as an employer.  If you get a job there expect to get minimum wage or just above it even with lots of experience.  I dont like shopping there because it's almost impossible to find a parking space and when you go to check out it takes forever to get through the line.  I stick with Family Dollar, Dollar General, they have the same things and are cheaper on most things.

I can't stand family dollar or general dollar, at least the ones around here, they are just too dirty and nasty.  I almost never have a problem with finding a spot or waiting in line unless I show up pretty much right before they close or around when all the cashiers leave at the 24 hour ones.  That's what i'm saying though, they don't pay much, but look at half the people working their.  They probably can't find a job anywhere cuz nobody will hire people like them.

 well i have worked for walmart for 3 years. it is the best job i have ever had. granted i have never worked in perminately in the store. i helped over there on the day after thanksgiving sale one year. and i have to say that the store sucked but i didnt know what i was doing. walmart is a great company to work for in my opinion. they treat me great, pay me great, and i have alot of opinions there. the only thing that really sucks is the insurance. btw i make $17.20 and hour + a great quarterly incentive.

omg theres this guy at walmart i swear he LOVES working there.. hes always running around talking to everyone who walks in and hes always got stickers all over his face... Hes the most friendliest guy ever, he'll say anythign to start a conversation.

what do u do to make 17.20 an hour? the problem with walmart is that it's a predatory business. before it even moves into a small town, they will buy the property of small businesses, wait for their leases to run out and then kick them out. if they don't do that they'll lower their prices so low that no business can compete then when small business are forced out of business they raise their prices back up with no competition to worry about.

i work in a warehouse, we are the reason you get stuff so cheap. i get sick of people thinking walmart is some kind of evil company. walmart only got big because people like to save money. everyone see the bad walmart does and not the good. because the little man get shut down. if there was no walmart their would be a ton of people out of jobs. our economy would crumble and then everyone would just be crying about something else. where do you guys work and what does your employer do for the communities they are in?

Well, I can easily say, I love walmart.  I am there like every day.  I like to save money, and if there was somewhere else that would save me more money, I would go there.  I don't care about all that other crap, I make my money, I don't want to spend more money than I have to.

Wal-mart is awful.

They bully suppliers into prices so all manufactured goods that used to be manufactured in the USA have been moved to China because wages are less there, the workers make about 100 dollars a month. As a result the factories that manufacture in America all closed down and moved to China and millions of Americans are out of work. As a result we can buy things for a few cents less (not all prices at wal-mart are cheaper than competitors), they just lure you in with a cheap price on one thing and once they've got you in the store everything else is priced about average. Wal-Mart has killed companies like "Rubbermaid" which in the 90's was "The #1 most respected company" in America. Wal-Mart has become such a huge supplier that they can demand a price and the companies have to meet it. IF they dont Wal-Mart will not sell their items and since EVERYONE shops at Wal-Mart their company is dead. So we're sending all of our manufacturing jobs over seas and milllions of Americans are out of work. The trend will continue and get worse and worse until we are 100% reliant on China to support our consumerism and when we eventually go to war with them (it's inevitable) we are going to be in a huge problem. We have a ridiculous trade difference between what we import from China and what we export TO china. Wal-Mart and Target are no different, just Wal-Mart is bigger.

people dont care about long term affects though man. they see something that costs 15 dollars at walmart instead of 20 down the street and either they just dont know about whats really goign on (which i think is the case with most people) or they cant grasp what direction walmart is headed in or they just dont care.

the bad part is Dollar general and family dollar stores are stocked full of the same things wal mart sells and are cheaper on most things but not many people shop there.  and we are paid & treated much better than at wal mart

Just FYI - I could go on for days about globalization and the way these companies lobby our elected officials to keep them from doing anything about it, but let's save that conversation for the off-topic forums. 

And yes, I'm a bit of a hypocrite because I still shop at Wal-Mart.
