Hello.
i want to get a crested gecko, there are some crested in my country, but its not really common.
because its not common i cant get any of the commercial diets, so i dont know what to feed.
some say that baby food is bad, some say its good. some say no insects, some say insects like the leopard gecko.
can i put some sliced(to a really tiny pieces) fruit and crickets two-three times a week with the right calcium powder?

thanks a lot.
Roi.

what country are you in? in the wild they eat rotting fruit that grows in New Caledonia, plus all the insects they can catch on the islands. i don't know what those are. and i imagine they get their D3 from the sunlight.

you might have to. if you cannnot get the Diets sent to you by a friend.

try to research what types of fruits are on new caladonia, and let them get over-ripe. no Citrus fruits.

you can freeze it. i mix a bunch and freeze the leftover.  it will last around a month or two frozen, it lasts a lot longer if you just mix it whenever you need it.

I do the same. Buy a big bag and keep it in the fridge. I have a small containerthat I use when I feed and just keep filling it up from the refrigerated bag.

I go through it to fast to put it in the refrigerator, lol.

Have you contacted any of the sellers and asked if they can ship over seas?
If I remember correctly Matt (pangea) has over seas rates...

thanks guys, ive contacted a few of breeders and herp supplies shops, but they didnt returned an answer yet.
just yesterday i also noticed that Pangea has really shipping rates to worldwide, ill mail them today.
would a 4lb pack for a pair(or trio) would be too much? or can i just buy the 2 lb and it will hold for a long time?

by the way, should i feed the crested once a day or every other day?
i saw Anthony is feeding his 3 times a week, but ive heard that young geckos should eat once a day and as they growing up they should it once every other day...
what do you think?

4lbs of the diet will last you an insanely long time!!!
2lbs will still last you quite a long time for a pair or trio

most people put new food in one day and let it sit the next day, thus changing out the cgd every 2 days

i feed adults every other day and babies every day. i have a lot of flavors so i keep mine in the fridge. i think i fill an entire drawer with CGD regular and flavors, so that is why mine is in the fridge. it will last me a while, even with 10 gex.

After a curtain amount of time, doesn't the stuff expire though?  I know with calcium and stuff, it expires and is pretty much no good after a few months I think.

yea, i get the smaller one, i guess it's the 2lb.  I feed 11 adults and 5 juvies, and it lasts me a few months. that's feeding 3-4 times a week.

it does have an expiration date but Allen said it would still be good months after it expires, probably even longer if its refridgerated.

the best storage for most supplement type stuff is a cool dry spot. keep your house's cilmate in mind. i use the fridge as well.
supplements last for eons unopened. air & heat contact does the most damage to products.
