After a very long wait (well like 13 days but whatever) Lacey laid her eggs! This is her first clutch ever. She did great. One of them was infertile, but the other little egg has a very bright "Lucky Cheerio"

Mama seems to be doing good, a little tired, but she has started eating again.

AWESOME!!!

And Congrats!!

Now-if you think waiting for her to lay was torture, waiting for them to hatch will be SHEER HELL!!

But it's all worth it when those babies peek out of the shell at you!!

well i wanted her to lay so bad so i could know if they were even fertile. Im also very impatient, haha. plus if she didnt lay then a lot of issues could be wrong, but eggs show problems a little easier. If there is no mold and the egg is nice and round its generally a good sign.

Is it still worth the wait if the baby comes out, gapes his mouth open and then throws his tail at you?

haha i had to ask.

I wish you had a video of that, it sounds just too funny.

I have jokingly asked my husband 3 times since the eggs were laid if the baby has hatched yet. It was just laid the 31st

the egg now has a funny little pucker thing going on. its still a round shape, so the pucker isnt 3-d, more like a pucker design. i will try to upload a pic later. What could it be?

It may be a tiny bit dry in the hatch box.  Try adding a couple of teaspoons of water, and see if the dent fills in.

Give it a day for the water to absorb, and check again.

Mine all have designs like that and I've had plenty hatch just fine.
I think it just has to do with calcium level and how experience mama is.
Newer breeders probably less perfect eggs.
But I don't ACTUALLY know the cause, just guesses. I wouldn't worry about it too much, I have 4 eggs getting ready to hatch that have that pattern over nearly the whole egg.

The same way we all do.

You sweat, you worry, you talk nicely to the eggs, begging them to hatch...and eventually you threaten them.

Eventually, just when you think you'll go nuts, they hatch, and you celebrate.

That's when you know you're truly a crestie junkie!
