I have kept my male with my female for 40 days now and i had read that your female wont allow the male to breed when she is gravid.True?? Because at nite for the past week or so my male has always been very very vocal at nite especially with her lol but iv heard some sounds that just sounded off and i go look at em and there not fighting but it seeems everytime my female is holding her ground just saying back off..so is it possibe she is gravid and that she isnt allowing him to breed so would it be best to seperate them now so i dont stress out my female?? iv also noticed a bit of diggin from time to time in the laybox as well. Also just for the record i check them on a daily basis and there has never been any "battle scars" from fighting. i just dont wanna stress my female out while she does her thing you kno.

I've never heard that a gravid female won't allow a male to mate with her.  In fact, I have females that have repeatedly been bred during the season-by the same male, of course-and while the female doesn't just let him have his way with no struggle, they do end up breeding again after the first time.

She might just be telling him to talk a walk and cool off, but a persistent male will usually get his way.

Well, I would still keep an eye on both of them...especially if you hear prolonged or hysterical quacking.

Or, you can take the male out and give your girl a break, and if the eggs she lays aren't fertile, give it another try.

Sometimes, a break is good to break up the mating cycle of an especially pervy male.

If you have another female that you'd like to breed him to, I'd put him in with her.
