Hey All.

I feed a variety to my cresties, some days they get Repashy CGD mixed with water, some days i mix it with water and mango baby food. And they also get crickets a few times a week.

My question is, does anyone elses CGD get moldy if you leave it for more than 36 hours? Every single time I leave it in there it gets moldy and i dont know why. Many care sheets ive read say you can leave it for a few days. Am i just not using enough water?

any advice/info would be appreciated!

i"m thinking it might be the mango, or too much humidity can cause mold to grow a little quicker.
lif youre misting your cages and it stays wet all day from one misting, youre either misting too much and/or there's not enough ventilation.
try removing the baby food from their diet and see if the mold goes away, all they need is the cgd for a healthy diet, the baby food will probably just make them fat over time especially with all those crickets.
crickets and baby food should be used as treats ONLY and should be fed maybe 2 times a month because you want to make sure theyre relying on the cgd.

my small food dishes (20oz. soda caps) will have mold by day 2 or 3, my larger food dishes usually dont get moldy for some reason. I mix all the food in one cup so its the same water/food ratio in each dish.

one thing ive noticed helps a little bit it to remove the food dishes when you mist the cages, and then put them back when your done misting. anytime ive misted the food on accident it has gotten mold overnight.

now that i think about it there was a discussion about this a while back on the repashy forums and from what everyone posted it looked like the ph levels might be diferent depending where  where your water might come from, aparently the diferent ph levels would make the food more or less likely to get moldy (if i remember correctly at least Huh)

i never encountered mold, but i have a group of picky cresties. it has to be fresh cgd each night or they wont touch it. I think i have original flavor. Im going to try some strawberry and see if they will eat it better.
