Hi again,

My new crestie Teo (got him a month ago, he's 5 grams, maybe 4-5 months old??) seems to be doing fine these days. Which I'm glad of. I caught him/her shedding last night...it was the first i've seen so I was pretty excited about it. I checked periodically and every time I would come in and turn the light on he seemed to just freeze in place, half his shed in his mouth as he pulled it off and he just stared at me like he got "caught" doing something bad....haha...

anyways, just curious how often i should be handling him. I take him out usually once a day and only late at night, after he's woken up and movin around a bit. I take him out for maybe 5-10 minutes and just hand walk him. sometimes he seems hellbent on getting away from my hand so i just leave him alone for a bit. if he's still finicky I'll just leave him alone until the next day.

I would really like for him to be tame and have a chill personality but I guess that's not up to me : / haha. Ive read handling them and being patient does the trick so i'll just continue doing that.

Any opinions/thoughts/comments?

I added a few pics so you guys can check him out. The reddish pic was one I caught when he was exploring his cage at night. I walked in and it took me a few minutes to find him hiding in plain sight (happens often) haha. Can they see the red light?

Thanks in advance

Billy

since you have had him for a month id say hes had a pretty good amount of time to settle in. The way you are handling him sounds good too. Younger geckos tend to be more jumpy ive noticed.

I don't think red lights bother reptiles too much. My frogs never seem to mind it either.

Temps sound OK, (You can even let it get a bit cooler at night), just don't let it get much above that either. Humidity could be a bit higher. They like it 80% or above. Although I know a lot of people don't worry about that too much either, as they mist heavily in the evenings to compensate.

good thinking i always do that when getting a new critter its best to get the temps down rite then stress out ur gecko and humidity sounds fine i dont worry bout it too much i spray pretty good at nite and i have humidifiers hooked up directly to my tanks and ill fill that up with fog after the spray..the fog disapears when i turn it off within 30 45 seconds but the humidty stays in the tank longer over nite..and iv had perfect sheds ever since adding the humidifiers!...just member to create a humidty cycle!!

I love the picture of him upside down on the mesh screen top!  I've got one that loves to do that every night too.  I made me nervous the first night he did it I had to keep checking to make sure he wasn't stuck, lol.  Now its routine, he wakes up and all I can hear is "tink-tink-tink" of his little claws climbing upside down on his screen top.
