Exo Terra 24x18x24

Just wondering if an Exo Terra 24wx18dx24t is big enough for a breeding group in your opinions? Currently have one male and one female but was thinking of adding a third and possibly a fourth female. Will post pics of the cage when i figure it out. Also how acurate are the preanal pores in determing sex in young geckos? Thank you ahead of time for any and all help you can give.

Hi!  I? Not too sure about the size of a group in that terrarium. I've only ever had a pair in something that size, tho I do tend to be of the belief that bigger is always better.  I suppose if you have enough foliage & hides & food locations, you might be able to get away with three in there, but def no more then that. The general rule of thumb is about 10g per adult gecko...  I have a had a breeding group of 5 in a huge custom cage (possibly 50 or 60g... def bigger then a 40 breeder - approxx 24"x18"x36".  I thought that was a little crowded tho. 

About the pores, you can look with a jewlers loop at about 6g and likely see pores, tho I am terrible at seeing them at that weight.  Maybe someone else can chime in on the topic.

if you can actually get a good reading on the pores its really accurate. light colored geckos with little to know belly pattern are the easiest

I keep my breeders in 66qt tubs with a ratio of 1.1 so a ratio of 1.4 would do well in that size enclosure. The key is providing hiding places and multiple food dishes. Think something around 4-5 hiding places. One per gecko to seek refuge from a horny male or alpha female. Hope this helps.

That looks like a fine size for that kind of group. As always watch to make sure everybody gets along, and as Leif said, multiple food dishes can reduce disputes.
