Picked this little guy/girl from my local petco,  I was pretty excited.

So would he/she be considered a red, or a red patternless

He/she is about as long as the tip of my index finger to the base of the finger around 4 inches I just havent weighed yet

Here are the pics

And this is him/her playing peek a boo

Yep-you have a sweet little red/patternless.  Solid/patternless is interchangeable.

Congrats on the great find!

I really think Petco has no idea what they're doing. It seems like we're always snagging really nice morphs and they have no clue what to charge for them or anything. Better for us, I suppose. Nice red:)

So lucky!
I always check my local petco's and such but theyre always just buckskin colors or just like a pale yellow tigers,
the sad thing is i want to take them all home all the time cause the babies are always too skinny, dehydrated, and not in good shape (like the won't even stick to your fingers and barely move around)

Actually, the 3 Petcos nearest my house have soe of the best cresties available in our area, and take care of their animals very well!  Their reptile people are quite knowledgeable at our stores.  And they stock AND feed CGD.  I never find any of their animals stuck with shed or dehydrated.  They're all fat and sassy and active.

It seems that Pet Supplies Plus doesn't give a damn about their animals at all.  They don't even carry CGD anymore.

And it seems that with all the "new expanded" herp section at PetSmart, they've gotten rid of CGD, too, and don't care about their husbandry, either.  They're STILL keeping the cresties in the mid to high 80's and now they're feeding some pelleted crap.  Even when they carried CGD, they were feeding baby food and crickets.

Petco is the way to go for herps in Buffalo, other than a few Mom & Pop shops that do really well by their animals, too.

Unfortunately, the chains have driven most of the local Mom & Pops out of the Buffalo area.

I used to be in charge of collecting donated items for prizes from the shops in the northern part of the area, for our local aquarium club bowl shows.

There were TONS of Mom and Pops in the area, and they were always VERY generous with the freebies.  I got to know the owners on a first name basis, and we gave them lots of business.  They also gave our group good discounts with our membership cards, and some even sent us sale lists.  They always had the best, healthiest fish and the best prices on supplies, and would special-order hard-to-find species for us.

When the chain stores came in, they vanished.

im my area almost all the mom and pop shops are all terrible (there is one that does a decent job). they all have way too many animals in their cages. I call the big one in my area the "beardie mill" Shocked if you go in their shop they will have 3 cages measuring about 1ftx1ftx3ft in one there will be about 100 baby beardies, in the next cage there are about 50-75 sub adults and in the 3rd cage there are 10-15 adults. males being kept with males, all looking severely dehydrated and under fed, its a shame Angry.  I would rather support a local business but i wont support one that mistreats its animals.

back on topic though, that is an AWSOME petco find! all of my cresties have come from petcos but i havent come across a patternless one that was that nice. congrats

nice find!  I agree, s/he looks orange in the pic, but sometimes it's hard to get the red to show.

Our Petcos are also pretty decent here, especially one that has a herp specialist (he also works in fish) who just fixes whatever they do wrong no matter what the manager says to him.  He also works with the local nature center... looks pretty good.

It is very hard to show him/hers color she is quite red fired up and almost pink when it isnt.  And I have been lucky enough to find 2 reds and a decent male harley. And He/she is about as long as the tip of my index finger to the base of the finger so around 3 1/2 inches should I be able to tell the sex yet

Welll normally i don't go by length when trying to sex, I go by weight. But your little one sounds a little too small for the penile hump to have emerged right underneath the base of the tail (which would make it a male)  You could use a jewelers loupe to look for pores. Visible pores at the underneath of the base of the tail means its male. No pores mean female....but this is very hard to determine, especially if youve never done it before.

I wish I was near a petco more often, even then i never see cresties. The local pet store in my area only feeds crickets when they have cresties. I told them about CGD and they couldnt believe a gecko would go for a food thats not moving.
