I know there's a few people who attend on ciliatus, was wondering if I could get some feel for what it's like. I've been to the Hamburg show, which is pretty big, I take it this one is a bit smaller? A friend of mine and I have an idea for a reptile business that actually doesn't involve selling reptiles, and thought we might give the Buffalo show a try first.

It's quite small.  There are maybe 5 people there who sell cresties.  It's mostly snakes.

The bad part is that it takes place at a venue with two rooms.  Two years ago, when I vended with Tony Terradas, they had a sports memorabilia show in the other room.  A lot of the people who came through were from the other show.  They could have cared less about the herps.

Another problem is that WNY is NOT big into herps at all.  They'd rather spend their free money on booze and sporting events.  It's just the mind-set of 90% of the area.

Many are not the "sharpest knives in the drawer", either, so you have to sort of screen the buyers if you want your herps to go to good homes.

You'll get a lot of "EEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWW!" and "Does it bite?"  and "Is it poisonous?" Yeah.  Some of them are pretty stupid people.

Now if you want to break in with a smaller event, just to get your feet wet, this would be your place.

Not trying to scare you away or even put my own home town down.  It's just the way it is here.

I think you'd be better off coming as a buyer for the first time-just to check it out-rather than buying a table and getting here and being disappointed.
