so here in a month or two i am hoping to breed my two cresties...ive been doing quite a lot of research but i havent found anything on this..i kno u can put a few females with a male but lets say i want my female to breed with two seperate males.. would it be dangerous for my female to mate with two males? for example put her in with one male for like 2 weeks and take him out and a few weeks possibly a month later put her with the other male? does this sound dangerous at all or would it be bad for the babies oor what? THANKS!

First of all, it is VERY DANGEROUS to put two males together-EVER!!  You'll have a blood-bath!!  They will fight each other just for the heck of it, but they will also fight over who gets the girl!!!  And if the girl happens to be nearby when a fight breaks out, all 3 can die!!

NEVER put two males together!!

Second, the first male to get the girl would knock out any chance of babies from the second male this season.

Female cresties actually retain sperm for use later in the season.

She only needs to mate once or twice, and will produce babies from that male for the rest of the season.

So...pick ONE MALE for your girl-provided she's at least 35 grams. 40 to 45 is better for her and the babies.

Save the other male for next year!

There truly is no point in using both males with one female. If placed with multiple males, you would not know who is the father. Of course this only matters if you are documenting lineage and wanting to know which pair produces the best babies in terms of structure,color,ect....

I agree with the earlier sentiment about it being kinda pointless to put a female with one male and then swap it for another. Usually it just takes one mating and that female will produce babies from that for a whole season. However, the better option is to acquire more breedable females and start two separate colonies! That's how it all starts...

ok not very much related to main topic but related to samanthajanes post.
ive heard again and again not put males together up and down a thousand times and definitely agree that most males should not be put together,
ESPECIALLY WITH A FEMALE DURING BREEDING SEASON,
BUT, oddly enough last breeding season i had a male who seemed to just refuse to breed to one of my females so once fall came around i placed him in a cage (big enough for 3 adults) with a male who was the exact same size as him but decently docile.
And here comes the odd part, they are inseperable.
Everytime i open the cage they are snuggled together, not one fight or even accidental nip.
Where one goes, the other follows.
It is by far the weirdest thing i have witnessed with these little guys.
They are more bonded than my breeding pair haha

WOW!!  You're only the second person I've heard that from, but it's...ODD.

Homuman has a bachelor colony, and they were raised together.

For sure!!

I guess it's a huge tank and Steve has several males in it from what I understand.

That helps, too.
