So I'm finally getting around to uploading pics of my two new juvies- I've only been meaning to since October  Roll Eyes.  They are both from a PetSmart and were only $30 each  Wink.  They're were 3 in the enclosure together and I think the smaller one was bullied quite a bit.  By smaller I mean 7g vs 8g, but its tail was quite chewed on and infected.  I thought the little one would drop at least part of it but with some tlc and dabs of neosporin its all healed up now.

Here is the little one with the injured tail. I'm excited about this one, even at 7g we've got LOTS of spots, a bright orangy belly and an interesting stripe down the underside of the tail.  I'm really quite happy it decided to keep it.

And here is #2.  Just a run of the mill flame but we'll see what it grows up into.

I did take some pictures of their vents to see if I could see any pores but I'm still unsure, any opinions?

Nice geckos!  I think I see pores on the first one, but I am pretty bad at that stuff, so don't take my word for it... I can't tell on the other one.  I've recently purchased 2 geckos from Petco that were on sale for $40, but the girl only rang up one gecko (they were in the same box) so I ended up paying only $20 each.  I love when they have sales and good looking geckos. from what i can tell i see spores on the first gecko and not the other one.

We went to petco the other day and i say a 15-20 gram male olive. he was bullied pretty bad, he had scars on his nose, plus fresh and healing wounds. if we had room for one more then we would have taken him home with us!

Yeah I still can't tell if they are male or female lol.  Every time I think I see pores or no pores I second guess it but then again i'm just eyeballing it.  They'll turn up boy or girl eventually!

Nope no loupe, so far my magnification technique is to get a picture and zoom in on the computer but its quite tricky to hold the gecko still vent exposed with one hand and snap a picture with the other lol.  Those two up there were the best I've managed so far.  They've gotten a bit bigger since then maybe its time to try again.

Do you have a scanning printer??

If so, have a friend hold the gecko belly-down on the scanning bed and scan.  I'd place a piece of cardboard on one half and place the gecko's head and chest on the cardboard...just so the light doesn't hurt the gecko's eyes.

Once you scan and save the shot, you can blow it up to read the crotch for pores.

that is a good idea, worth a shot at least.  I'll have to try it when I get back home, I'm out of town for the week and my roommate is taking care of everybody.  I might get a weird response if I ask her to scan my geckos for me lol!
