My son's (mine..lol) leopard has laid her first ever clutch 5wks to the day after successful mating.  As you can see one egg is half the size of the other, and dented.  I believe it is infertile. You can see the red blood ring on the top of the bigger one.  My question....is it normal for the first clutch to produce one "good" and one "bad" egg?

They are both in the incubator, I will remove the bad one as soon as my son gets over it being bad, and we are waiting.  I am so jealous.  My 10yr old is now in the breeding lead, as I have not produced any crested eggs as of yet, but not for long.  Two of my females have laid their first clutch of "dummy" eggs, time to meet the boys!  Wink

Actually alot of the first clutches for first time females are no good...even this year i had two crested geckos clutches where only one egg was good..but hold on to that little egg...the dent is usually caused from dry conditions and may pop out once on the vermiculite...wait until it grows the tiniest bit of mold or gets yellow..you never know..

That is what I was thinking. Good idea to hang on to the egg, was thinking about that too.  Like you said, you never know.

How long did it take for them to produce eggs once they were together?? I'm getting a trio next month, either the red stripes or the shtct.? I would like to get a pair of raptors but I'll wait until the price goes down on them.

And on the eggs, I've had a few crested eggs that looked like that when I found them in their lay box and they hatched

dont know much about leopard eggs but hope it works out for you, or should i say your son, lol

on a side note, i dont see whats up with leopards.....i just dont get it i guess.....the only morph i seem to like is a mack snow, and i think it was a lavender jumgle or some crazy thing like that
maybe its just too complicated for me and since i never really looked into it maybe thats why i dont get what the big deal is with some of these morphs

never heard of a red stripe, would love to see a pic, sounds interesting

She is laying every 4 to 4.5 weeks.
