so i was checking on my pacman frog today and it looks like he prolapsed his stomach.... it is just hanging out of his mouth.

heres a pic right when i saw him...

i took him out and removed a piece of moss from the prolapsed organ, within a few seconds the color went from greyish blue back to light pink (im assuming thats a good thing) and i managed to get him to swallow some of it but there is still a bit hanging out.
does anyone know whats goin on here? what would cause this?

I have read that over feeding can cause this but he hasnt eaten in 3 or 4 days (ive been lagging on getting him crickets these past 2 days) and ive heard impaction can cause this also, so maybe he is impacted. ( i feed him in a separate empty container, but at the pet shop he was on eco earth...)

any tips or ideas to what exactly is happening here?

i just checked on him again and he appears to be back to normal now (no fleshy protrusion hanging from his mouth at least) and seems pretty actice...for a pacman frog that is lol.

i did a quick search on the internet, and apparently if you over feed these guys or if they get severely impacted they will sometimes prolapse their stomach. at least thats what happened to someone an another forum. i had never heard of such a thing before.

I bet you did!!

That would freak me out, too, and I've seem some atrocious things in my life!!!

I think the crazy part is that they can just "puke" their stomachs out like that, "suck" them back in, and go on living like nothing happened!
