Well, this morning I woke up expecting to see my scorpion Gloria out and about (this is like her happy hour) but instead I found her relaxing on the heat rock. I figured I should take the uneaten crickets out of the cage so I took the male out of the cage and reached over to the female and poked her on the back leg. No reaction. I figured maybe she was feeling slow today so I picked her up fully. She was totally limp and I know that particularly in invertabrates, limp=dead...Tonight I am going to hang her up in a shadowbox like I do with many of my favorite pets so I will never forget them.

I am sorry for your loss Cry. what species was it?

I had an emperor scorpion "abbigale" a few years ago (I am scared to death of spiders and scorpions, i figured it would help me over come my fears. it did to an extent lol) when she died I donated her to a local highschools pretty extensive insect/ arachnid collection (I worked with the biology teachers husband)

she was friendly at the store... they wouldnt sell her to me unless i would reach in the pen and pick out the one i wanted...they got a kick out of the look on my face when they said that haha.
once i got her home she was a terrorizer! she was sooo aggressive i couldnt even walk by without her rearing up in a defensive posture which sucked because i really wanted to hold her alot while i had her but i was just too scared...

I'm so sorry you lost your little girl!!!

Like Bad_One said...no matter what the species, a pet is part of a family, and it hurts when they die.

She's in a better place now and she'll be waiting for you-all healed and healthy.

RIP, Gloria!!!

Thanks you guys. She was a really great scorpion. She never even reared up at me because she got used to me. I always handled her with no problem and she will be missed.
