I saw some very old posts on this subject, so I thought I'd start a new one with my questions. I am going out of town for 4 days and am wondering what is the best way to make sure my 4 month old gecko is taken care of. I know not to bring him with me in the car since it will cause too much stress. But I'm wondering if it would be okay to feed him the night before and then leave him for 4 days with water, or should I leave some CGD in there? I'm worried about it growing mold if I leave it for 4 days. I could also try to arrange to leave him with someone, but not sure 4 days is long enough to necessitate that. Any advice is appreciated  Smiley

I would pre-mix some CGD and send him to a friend for the 4 days...along with his misting bottle.

It will likely grow mold or dry out completely in 4 days.  The other issue would be keeping the tank humidity up (misting) plus pseudomonas bacteria can start building in standing water in as little as 48 hours AND they inevitably POOP in their water when you don't want them to.

My suggestion would be to send him off to someone (as Donna mentioned) or have someone come in and tend to him.  They would only have to feed him one additional time while you are away.  They are really aren't a big problem to tend to so I would say find a friend or family member who can just check in on him and feed and change his water.
