I love em'! Cute little boogers, kind of stupid, but very cute. Grin

I have two of them, named Dorkus and Sporkus, a male and female respectively. When I got them they were just froglets, but now they're all grown up. Dorkus sings me to sleep every night. Smiley Although I think he's a little misguided on who he's supposed to be approaching with that sort of thing. Tongue

So here are my froggers:
Dorkus

Dorkus: ZEN MODE

Suspicious frog sees you and wonders: what the heck is that giant balding pink thing?

And Sporkus, who is now much fatter than this:

AREN'T THEY CUTE.
Anybody else have african dwarf frogs? Smiley

Most people just get them as an interesting add-on to their already established community tanks, but I took one look at Dorky in the store and new I had to buy him. Tongue I'm a sucker.

I'm done with aquatic pets after these guys for a while, though, until I settle down and don't have to move their tank as much. Also, watching the water parameters makes me paranoid.  Lips Sealed I think they're supposed to live for 5-7 years? Hopefully I'm taking good enough care of mine (only had them for about two months now).

I started out with two males, but now I have just one African Dwarf frog. I don't keep any other aquatic pets, but I agree that they were just too cute to pass up! And so easy to keep! My surviving frog is a little over two years old now, but doesn't sing at all. At least, I don't hear him. It is quite possible that he does and I don't hear him since I sleep like a rock.  Wink

Mine didn't start singing until I gave him a girlfriend. Maybe that's why your little guy's so quiet. He's got no one to woo.  Grin

Yep, they sing! Or more like, buzz. Here's a video, this little guy is just precious - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8OJU6zmx90

He he, the video's cute. Yes I imagine that's why mine's quiet. I purposely got two males at the beginning, to avoid any possibility of egg-laying. Smiley

Yeah, that was the idea, but the pet store guy just gave me whichever ones he could catch first. xD And I somehow ended up, by luck of the draw, with a male and a female.  Tongue Figures.

My roommate has african clawed frogs- the full sized variety not dwarfs, and she thinks they're one of the best pets a kid can have.  Her wild caught male she's had since she was three which makes him 21 years now.  She even bred them once which was pure luck because the conditions have to be just so.  They haven't bred again in the like ten years she's had a female, although they all get extremely friendly with each other no eggs. They sing whenever they're happy too.  Grin
