When you say you would give her one a month. Does that mean she only ate that one pinky and nothing else for a month or you just had her on crickets or babyfood or whatever else the rest of the time? Sorry if it's a dumb question.

I wouldnt feed a big pinky.  A new born will be small enough.

so if everyone is using pinks for calcium reasons, has anyone tried phoenix worms?
seems like an easier solution to me

I've never tried phoenix worms.  Mine doesnt get pinkies anymore.  I just had a ton of them when I had snakes and fed off some to her.
