Mushrooms?

Ok, I've had a little potted pothos in my males tank. It has just the regular soil in it and is looking great. Well, I went to get Kovu out of the tank and he was, of course, in his plant. So I picked him out and he was wrapped around a group of mushrooms in the plant! I'm worried about what it might do to Kovu. I've removed it from the enclosure and ran luke warm water over him to get anything off him. He's acting fine and everything, but was just wondering has this ever happened to anyone? What should I do other than remove the plant? Will mushrooms like this grow in Eco-Earth as well? Will Kovu be ok? Thanks everyone!

well, i don't know about how safe/unsafe those mushrooms would be for cresteds because i don't know even what kind of mushroom it is. but i can tell you that you'll have to repot the plant entirly to rid it of the mushrooms. you should probably lightly bleach out the tank as well. mushhroom spores can hide in/on everything. the spores prolly came with the plant, is your tank really humid? mushrooms like to grow in the damp.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I'm sure they come into contact with fungus in the wild, so as long as it's not taking over your enclosure and the gecko isn't trying to eat it for any reason, I don't think it would pose any health risk.

The problem with trying to get rid of mushrooms is that what you see is only the male part of the plant the rest of it lies in the ground. When you repot the plant you will have to really get all of the soil, around the roots even, to get rid of the mushroom.
Good luck
