My grey banded king snake has refused  food twice now.  He has been more active than normal, usually sign he wants to be fed, but when I put his(frozen thawed) mouse in, he just nuzzles it, then leaves it alone.  I had recently upped the size of mouse he was taking, but he ate a couple with no problem before stopping eating.  It is the middle of winter...  maybe that has something to do with it?  Any help, guys?

He is almost three years old, about 2.5 feet long, in a 20-long reptile enclosure on calcium sand substrate.  I have had him since he was a hatchling, and this is the first time he has refused to eat.  He seemed to be defecating a little more than usual at the time he stopped eating, but it was of a normal color/consistency.

you have anyother snakes?, these guys are snake eaters, if you scent you mouse it should take it, might try live too, sometimes their not much for F/T eaters.

and you might just go back down to the other size, kings hibernate in the winter, might be part of the reason also...

He was eating F/T when I got him, and has ever since.  I have never had a problem before.  I will drop back to the smaller size.

Thanks for the reply.

My corn snake refuses food sometimes, usually just before he sheds. Could your snake be about to shed? My only other thought is if it's too cold in his tank he may not want to eat.
