Ok, I'm getting a crested tomarrow. I decided to buy the deal thing from the local pet shop http://ciliatus.com/forums/index.php/topic,4180.0.html

I want that guy becasue I see that they only feed it crickets as far as I could see and if I get one I wanna kinda "Rescue" one. I already got him checked for parasites and and all from the local reptile vet and he said it's all good.

Here's the issue. No one here has Cgd. Everyone is outta stock so I'm not sure what to feed him for a few days til I order some or petco gets it in.

What should I feed him? Help!

Btw, I do intend on getting another crested later in hopes of breeding  Smiley

Your crested coming home will be nervous and may not eat much anyway right off the bat so depending on how long the wait is you may not need to bother.  However, dusted crickets and small roaches are always appreciated and you can also give them a little fruit puree and yogurt to lick up temprarily.  I order all my CGD from Pangea and it comes right away and seems to be cheaper shipped than anywhere else anyway.  Petsmarts and Petco's usually have it as well, but those tiny containers don't last long and buying in bulk reduces overall cost and it keeps well for a year or so anyway when it is kept in a dry cool pace in your fridge.

If they're only feeding it crickets then what's 3-4 more days on them.  I wouldn't introduce something new just to change it again within a week.  Let him adjust to the cage and introduce CGD once you get it.  I agree with crickets only(dusted) until you get your shipment.

I appreciate the fact that people want to "rescue" these animals from pet stores when they believe they are being mistreated or not cared for correctly, but you always have to remember this... You buy that gecko, you just made room for another gecko to be replaced and cared for a treated the exact same way that one was and probably payed triple what they payed.  Feeding crickets isn't that big of a deal as long as they were dusting the crickets.  You definitely want to give it the cgd because it is better for them, but feeding it crickets really isn't that bad of a thing.
