I was wondering what the difference was between the "complete diet" and the base for the 2 part system. Are those two different? Because I have found them priced differently, and now I'm confused.

Thank you.

The complete already has a flavor mixed in it.  The newest stuff has rose flavor.
The base for the two part has no flavor and you have to buy the flavors you want to add to it.

I tried the 2 part when it first came out and didnt notice any difference in the amount they ate so I just stay with the complete diet.

Alot of people feel the need to give their geckos different flavors, like so many people give their geckos different flavors of baby food for treats, so instead, alot of people just go with the 2 part diet instead so they can give them different flavors.... All my geckos eat the CGD and most lick the bowl clean everytime, so I see no reason to feed them any baby food or different flavor of anything for "treats"... But yeah, that's basically the whole difference, both are still complete diets though.

Great! Thank you. So the complete diet I am about to finish has always smelled like bananas. Is that its flavor, or does all of it have banana powder in it? Or how do I find out what flavor it is? So they switch up the flavor in the complete diet?

Thanks.

It's the banana powder...  I got a 4 lbs. bag about 5-6 weeks ago, and it still smells like banana.  When did the switch to the rose-smelling stuff happen?  I'm wondering if I got an old bag, 'ya know?

I used to love the smell of the stuff because it smelled like banana, the last few times I ordered it, it smells nasty, lol.  The geckos still love it though... I don't know exactly when they switched it, but it doesn't smell like good bananas anymore.

Allen has revised the diet twice since the banana powder stuff over a year ago, but many suppliers still have the old formula and it is still good so don't worry.  The newest stuff has a mold inhibitor in it so you can safely leave it in for 3-4 days without funky fungus and smells like roses- ummm yummy!

That's really interesting about the mold inhibitor!! I noticed the formula change, but didn't really understand the reasoning behind it. I didn't even realize until you mentioned it, but I haven't been waking up to ANY moldy CGD anymore!! That's so cool and my cresties even seem to like this stuff better!
