Hi,

I just bought a Crested Gecko and I have to admit that I'm new to this type of pet and somewhat confused over what to feed them. The people at one store told me baby food mixed with calcium powder and some multivitamin thing. Another store told me to use this: http://www.geckobrothel.com/care-and-feeding/45-general-care/69-crested-gecko-diet.html and online information I've found says crickets, mealworms, etc. I'm pretty confused now and have bought both meal worms and baby food and also some of the ingredients listed for the URL I posted. I found a forum on this site that says baby food is a no-no and to use CGD (which I can't find in Ottawa Canada yet.) Is the baby food or the Crested Gecko Diet at the URL posted ok? What if I enhance either of them with protein powered (whey powder that you usually use for weight training) or some other source of protein along with the calcium?

Thanks, I've quite confused. BTW: I really don't want to deal with crickets so suggestions w/o cricket would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Sheldon.

Feed Crested Gecko Diet, don't mess with the baby food, it's like candy to a Crested.  The CGD is a complete diet, it has everything that the gecko needs.  Dusted crickets are good too, but don't do mealworms.  Since you don't like dealing with crickets, don't use insects at all, just find some CGD.  You can order it online from many different places. I don't mean to sound rude, but maybe next time we should figure all this out before we buy the pet. I really don't want to sound mean, but there are just too many impulse buys and the pet is the one who suffers.

Well, I thought that I had it figured out but then came across conflicting information. Once I dug into it more I discovered that there are quite a few diverging opinions on the matter and became confused.

Ok, understandable, like I said, I didn't want to sound rude, or didn't mean to even be mean or anything.  Things happen, at least you are getting everything right now instead of just coasting along doing everything you were told to in the beginning. Good luck with the little guy.
