Hey, guys-

I have a Canon Digital Rebel XT (DSLR) and only have the kit lens that came with it.  The lens is fine, but I REALLY need something that will give me better macro shots.  What kind of lens am I looking for?  It would be used mainly for animal shots (I'm sure I'd use it on my kids, too!), and I don't need a $500 lens.  I've seen used AND new lenses out there for under $200 (not sure if they are what I want, though), so I know they exist.... I just don't know what I'm looking for!

It doesn't have to be a Canon lens, either.  I just want something that should give me decent macro shots and I won't have to pay an arm & leg for.

Suggestions?  Huh

Well, if you're looking into canon lenses only, they have a few macro lenses with very high aperture numbers for 200-300 dollars...but I'm sure you could find a nice Sigma or Tamron macro lens made to fit canon cameras for much cheaper. Not quite canon quality, but if you're doing it just as a hobby, it's not a huge difference (only something an avid or professional photographer would notice).

I'm looking for the same thing... Can't find it anywhere. I think your best bet is Ebay. Everything that I like is over $500...
