The beginnings of something beautiful? The 'pox' morph?

So up here in Canada we can get quite bored and not to mention jealous of you Americans and all your fancy new morphs you keep coining. SO. At the last reptile expo we had in Montreal on Oct 19th I had the opportunity to speak with one of our big breeders up here, Betty from Gecko Brothel, about what we think could be a potential new morph. I was able to pick up a similar, unrelated male from Clint Hill at the same expo as well.
ANYWAY... What is this 'pox' morph you ask? Well, it stems from a male (named Pox) that Betty produced that was kind of in that tigery/brindley area but he had these almost uniform looking reddish/brownish dots on him. NOT dalmation spotting. But a patterning. Since he came about he has been producing some offpsring with similar traits and the female I pickedup from Betty just so happens to show it as well.
Here are the pics of the two geckos I grabbed.
Female (Gecko Brothel - Pox baby):
Male (Clint Hill - unrelated):
Now, there's another individual up here who has some females with similar traits and I believe at least 1 of her 3 is unrelated to the original male I talked about, Pox. So given that, and the fact that I did manage to pick up an unrelated male as well (with some gourgeous partial pinning and colouration) it would seem that there are indeed more geckos out there with this trait.
It's something that I personally am going to start working on in '09 once these two are of breeding size. To see what's produced and how much the trait gets carried over. But I was wondering if anyone else has seen or owns cresties with this particular patterning trait?

Yup!!!
I picked up a male with that trait at the WNY Herp Show.
His male is Berto and he was produced by Terradas from the forum. He's tangerine orange when he fires up, and he's a Super Dalmatian, too!!
Check him out on this link-

I have a couple that display this characteristic...this newer hatchling puts it across the best in picture. The dotting is strongest across this one's crown area, then peters off towards the mid-back.

I've searched about and never seen a clear example on any breeders site of what constitutes 'peppered' and always thought it implied darker speckling than this.
Oh well. Just the same I think they will make some great babies next year.

This is something straight out of the Rhac book, and although it's not explained much further than a photo caption, I do believe that it is similar to what you see with your geckos.
I love the looks of them though. They really are good looking geckos.

I found the page that you referenced.
It's a single picture (p. 86) and reads as follows:
Quote
An unusual 'peppered' orange crested gecko. The 'peppered' morph may become established in the future.
I don't know how close my guy is to being like the one shown though. I guess the one shown just doesn't have as finite speckels across its body. And the female I have is way more uniform as well. I also just recently acquired a reverse pin with this same trait and am hoping that it proves to be a female in the coming months because that would be fantastic.
Give me a year or two and I'll have something going with this morph.

It reminds me of the tiger morph pattern, only extremely "broken up". I hope we see more of these guys.

My 'female' seems to have been a late bloomer.
SO. Now I have two really nice males.
This is still a project I want to pursue however. And I have some nice orange cream females to do it with!
