I recently purchased a hatchling chahoa at the white plains expo and I'm a little worried by It's lack of activity and I'm having a hard time monitoring it's Cgd intake...I have also offered pinhd crickets which haven't been touched.  I did get it to eat a good amount of CCD off it's nose the 2nd night home,  but I 'm trying to keep a hands off approach to let it get a lil more acclamated.  I currently have it in a critter keeper on paper towels, that I mist nightly.  I have a small piece of cork slab and a few airplants in there and bottlecap food and water bowls.  If anyone could throw me some pointers on hatchling care I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Is it a hatchling, or just young?  Have you tried mixing fruit babyfood with the cgd?
Chahouas are big on smelling their food, if it smells bad some won't touch it.  Also, if it is a hatchling and has never had crickets, it may be a month or so before it shows any interest in them.  None of my chahouas ever took pin heads, they liked 3 week old crickets (usually called "small").  The driping on the nose is a good way to get them interested in eating though, so keep it up.  That way you know it is eating, and are encouraging it to do so.  And remember you don't HAVE to pick them up to feed them from a dropper.  If it likes the smell and you suspend a drip in front of it's nose, it will likely at least lick it to investigate.
Also, have you ever had a chahoua before?  They aren't very active during the day, and juvies and up tend to move around quite a bit at night, but hatchlings are much more cautious and calm in general.  If it's just hanging out on a plant or the piece of cork most of the time, that's not really something to be worried about.  Plus if you did just get it 5 days ago, it is likely very aware of you and trying not to move much when you're watching.
You should probably give it more cage furniture to make it more comfertable.  Chahouas love vines!  Do you have a pic of the enclosure?  If I think of anything else I'll let you know.

yea it hatched on 7/7 and is still quite small.  It is my first chahoua I do however have a crested gecko and a bearded dragon who are both doing quite well. I do cut the CGD with some baby food and I will definately try a dropper and possibly using another baby food flavor.  I usually leave him alone during the day and try to feed him at night when I feed my crested.  And I'll try adding more flora to the cage.  Thanks for the advice.

oh wow, you definately have a hatchling!  I'm honestly surprised they sold it so young!  You'll definately need to give it some time, it's probably still absorbing it's yolk reserves at that age!  I still stand by my previous suggestions, but don't be surprised if it's reluctant to take food for another week.

Haven't heard anything else, just thought I'd check up with you.  How's the baby doing?  Any improvement?
