hey guys.
i got a male recently from a guy selling his extra males off. i noticed something a little funny with his tale, but bought him anway, sure is a pretty one. (<----total sucker).
now that he's home and i've let him adjust i can see;
1. he has floppy tail
2. his tail is curled pretty much all the time. not like a pigs tail! not straight and stiff.
3. he's eating CGD and water like crazy!
4. he's about to shed any day now.

i've read a lot on floppy tail but i've never read anything about a curled tail. right now i'm adding extra calcium to the mix, does anyone have some advise, is it a progressed floppy tail?

Take a picture of what you are saying.? It may be a kinked tail.? Sometimes these things mean you need a little more calcium, sometimes they don't.

i don't want to stress him out too much more. i've had him just over a week, and been bugging him, poking around trying to get a good look at that tail. so i'll try and get a decent shot in a couple more days or so. let him get some rest from me Smiley

okay, here's a shot of the tail. it's a lot straighter today then it had been, looks like a wave here. at worst, it reminded me of a slinky, with more spaceing between the coils.? Huh

It looks like it's kinked. It could be a calcium problem. I'm not an expert in these parts so you would want to wait for someone to answer who has had more experience with that.

well, that's kind of a relief. better that then having some weird unknown thing effecting his bone.  Tongue
while i'm at it, i know it will vary according to how bad a situation is; is there a standard(ish) recovery rate i could expect to see? i'm looking for a benchmark to judge weather extra calcium in the CGD is working to help fix it - if it's a calcium issue.

p.s. thank you thank you for providing in a spell check!
