All that being said, the most important thing I can tell you is that GOOD, CLEAN COLOR will always be hot.? It doesn't matter what the gecko is called if it makes someone's jaw hit the floor.? I have patternless geckos and partial pinstripes that I wouldn't sell for $500.
Point very well made! "What's in a name?"
For example i got a girl several years back that most people wouldn't throw a nickel at but i was willing to pay top dollar cause she was exactly what i was looking for. When i found out how much the breeder wanted i thought it was a great deal. The breeder on the hand thought i was a sucker for paying his asking price. In the end i feel i got the better end of the deal,? i got the girl i wanted and she's a joy to work with.
People are getting way too caught up in morphs and "names" in particular.? I can't help but laugh when people put two "high end morphs" together and don't get any of the colors and patterns they were hoping to produce. Variation in these animals is what i find to be the fun part of raising and breeding them.?
Its fun putting together GeckoA + GeckoB and getting = What the F@!*$ is that!
I'm even going the unconventional route to producing a creamsicle by using a very well know producer of creamsicles (Taz)an orange and cream male and a Dark Harley female. That's right i said, i'm using a dark harley female in hope of producing a creamsicle.
I know for a fact the dark harley female came from Anthony's creamsicle female a while back so just for fun i want to prove out that she is capable and certainly carrying the genes to produce a creamsicle!
Plenty of people told me it wasn't going to work but so far some of the offsrping look very promising. How tough is it to get rid of orange harley's (procuded from your creamies) sometimes AC? When most people don't realize that that would be the right step towards producing some of your own. Everyone wants a creamie or a red harley or whatever... How about selectively picking and choosing geckos you like and producing your own?
In the end, If it looks good (to you) and looks like a morph you'd be willing to work with, go for it... buy it!
Don't worry about what the gecko will be worth down the road. It's worth as much as you and your future customer are willing to pay for it.?
