Alright I have another question tht definatley doen't have an positive answer. What morphs do you think will become popular/stay popular. The reason I ask is that I'm trying to get high quality morphs and raise them. I am on a tight budget so it wll take me 2-3 years to get a good number of animals, and I don't want to get a high priced gecko that by the time it is ready to breed be worth 1/10 of what I paided for it.

thanks, Jack Smiley

i personally think you missed the boat on whats popular. whats popular today might not be in 2-3 years
if youre just looking to make money i think you will find yourself dissapointed if youre basing your purchases on whats popular now.

Yeah, he is totally right.  But I definately think different pinstripes will be popular for a long time. I don't like the fact, as he said, that you are basically sounding like you are only doing this for the money though.  This is not something you do just for the money.

that's right.  when i first started the harleys were the "popular" ones but now you see them all the time.  If i had to pick from what's available now i would say the red harleys or creamsicles would be the best choice.  or maybe get a red harley with partial pinstripe and pair it up with a full pinstripe and try getting full pin red harleys.  I havent seen many of them if any.

Alright guys this did come off the wrong way. I love cresteds and all the patterns and colors and everything about them. I really am not doing this for the money. It is just that I'm a kid and my mom is a single mother so I have to pay for cresteds and all there stuff. So i am not going to base my decision on what is popular/expensive but is what I like But if I breed them I need to have enough money to house them etc. Grin sorry we had to get off on the wrong foot.

I really like blond harlys lavender harleys pinstripes and red the most, but I love them all

Like Matt said, Pinstripes are HOT and have been for a long time.? A few pinstripes were sold for $1,000 back in 2003, which was before they were even really available.? By late 2004, they were just starting to be readily available, so they dropped to about $350 for babies and $500 for sexable adults.? As of right now, they still sell like hotcakes at that price...meaning if you don't count the 2-3 animals that were sold early for $1,000, full pinstripes have never really gone down.

Good quality red harlequins are another one that seems to be extremely popular...they sell for quite a bit more than pinstripes and really don't show any sign of slowing down.? In fact, I think they're going to be the "IT" gecko for a long time.

Of course, creamsicles are popular, but trying to produce them is frustrating.? Most breeders I know have practically thrown their hands up in the air with that project.? It seems like most babies either get the orange color and no cream, or the cream back on a dark colored gecko (with no orange).? ?I swear...I can put two creamsicles together and feel lucky if I get 2-3 creamsicles out of 14 eggs.

All that being said, the most important thing I can tell you is that GOOD, CLEAN COLOR will always be hot.  It doesn't matter what the gecko is called if it makes someone's jaw hit the floor.  I have patternless geckos and partial pinstripes that I wouldn't sell for $500.

I'm no expert, but I think you will have more fun, be more dedicated and enjoy it more if you breed what you like, not what other will/may like. ?Your enthusiasm, I believe, is what will help you sell more and be more sucessful, than in it just for the money or what may be popular. ?

For example...there are 2 stores near you that sell the same thing....lets say crickets & reptile supplies. ?One is closer to you and less expensive, the other is 3 blocks further away and costs a little bit more, lets say 10-20% more. ?Instead of paying $0.8 for a cricket, it's $0.10. ?The place near your house is nice, but they're not that friendly or knowledgeable and the people there just seem to take it as a "job" or just there for the money. ?Where the place that's farther away has people who are knowledgeable, enjoy what they're doing and every time you come in are happy to see you. ?It's not just a job for them and their love of reptiles has ended up being profitable for them. ?Which place will you go to? ?

I disagree about anyone missing the boat...awesome looking geckos are always in high demand.   It doesn't matter what morph it is, if it's truly an exceptional gecko and it's represented properly (clear, accurate photos or a well lit table display at a show), the gecko will sell.

well "awesome looking geckos" isnt really a morph now is it  Tongue
but i agree with that, if its and exception specimen it will get the price it deserves.
with that said, any of the crested morphs can turn into one, so it doesnt really matter

ill agree about pinstripes they are my favorite
id love to see a full pin from tail to eyes. that would be my prize geckos
