Gorgeous animals but I (personally)  cannot see why a private individual would want to keep a hot snake.  There are plenty of equally beautiful non-venomous ones available.  At the least the worst you would get would be a nasty bite.

Not judging anyone just personally can't see what the attraction is.

I agree with Steve.

I think of one of the prettiest snakes I ever saw was a Gaboon Viper that'sownwed by Nickel City Reptiles and Exotics or whatever they're called.  They do live animal presentations, fairs, etc...

The Gaboon was the most beautiful snake I ever laid eyes on, but I'll be damned if I'd accept the risks that are inherrent to owning it-even if the owner gave it to me for free.

The risks FAR out-weigh the beauty.

Funny Donna that's one of my favorites too.  Still with those huge fangs.  I could see me getting tagged so easy.  Would never be worth the risk.

Wrestle a rattler........no thanks........CATCH ONE with your hands.........sure thing Cool

I caught a 5' diamondback one time when i was out shooting with a friend, i was reaching to pick up a target (a bottle or something like that) and there it was, coiled up right next to it. I yelled to my friend to "GRAB A STICK'' and he knew right away what it was. I held it's head down with a stick and grabbed it behind the head, though i admit i didn't hold on to it very long, it was REALLY freaked out, so i tossed it and it struck a nice "don't mess with me" pose.

A couple years ago i caught a baby rattler outside our front door with a pair of kitchen tongs. I put it in a 10 gal. aquarium and went and bought a couple small mice so my kids (mainly me Cheesy) could watch it eat. The first strike was a dry one, the second one did it's job in about 20 seconds or so. I fed it again about 3-4 days later, it struck the mouse in the side and it fell over dead right then and there Shocked. I let it go a couple days later.

That's pretty sweet, I've always been good at catching snakes and have always thought about what I'd do if I stumbled across a rattler...
