"The New Guy"

Hey everyone, Casey here, I'm new to the ciliatus.com forums, and new to forums in general, hence no picture (I couldn't figure it out).
About Me:
Well I recently became obsessed over crested geckos, went out and got a little ripped off on my new Exo Terra 18x18x24 tank, and just finished planting everything yesterday. I really enjoy the idea of a living vivarium with natural plant. I'd like to thank all of you who've posted suggestions and links about terrarium setups because I've been reading for about the past week and have found a lot of aid in your posts.
To All Readers:
I'm from Minnesota/Wisconsin and currently live in Minneapolis, attending the University of Minnesota, so if any of you are in the area you should holler at me. More so on being new to the hobby I am open to any suggestions or input that a more knowledgable person has to offer. And Lastly, I'm letting my tank settle in and the plants to root a little but currently I have no Gecko(s) to call my own and am currently in the market. I'd like to start my tank off with a nice young male but am in need of of females as well. If any of you breeders out there have or know of any great deals you should also holler at me, I'd really appreciate it.
Tank Setup:
Tank:Exo Terra 18x18x18 glass terrarium, 2 double bulb Exo Terra compat light fixtures, 2 Exo Terra 25watt Night glow bulbs (front half of tank), 1 Exo Terra Repti Glo 2.0 and 1 5.0 bulb (back half of tank).
Substrate: (Bottom Inch) 1/4 inch gravel pebbles, (Next layer) 1 inch peat moss, (Next Layer) 2 inches Organic Potting Soil, (Top Layer) 50-50 Peat and organic soil mix with light amounts of cocoa bark on top.
Plants and stuff: Snake Plants (Sansevieria), Croton (Codiaeum), little ferns, and 1 T-Rex Grape Vine log in the middle.
Well that wraps up my first official post, feel free to drop me a response/suggestion, look out for more posts in the future, I'll be around

Hey guys, little update, I GOT A CRESTIE TODAY! I wandered over to Petco and looked was taking a look and there was this little brown/tan looking flame. As I talked to the lady as I was handeling it and the little feller fired right up to this great Red/Rusty flame. $45 dollars later and he's at my house. The little Crestie is 10cm long, and currently unsexable. I asked the lady and she says they get their stock from the Sandfire Dragon Ranch, but she couldn't tell me the age. Any guesses at the age when the gecko is 10cm? Any idea how long it'll be when I can properly identify the gender? (I know length isn't the greatest determination tool but I gott use what I got!)

dude are you british? what's a centimeter? lol just kidding. about 4 inches? assuming about half of that is the SVL? it's probably no more than a couple months old. when a gecko is about 3 inches SVL or around 15 grams, you should be able to tell, sometimes you can identify males sooner, and sometimes males bloom late.

Hey, thanks for that last post, that is a really helpful chart!
In other news, I don't think my little gecko has been eating, so I hand fed him this morning by putting him on my finger and putting the spoon up to his mouth, I think I'll do that and then leave the dish in his tank incase he is still hungry, but at least I can make sure he's eating.

btw, that chart totally does not apply to geckos eating solely CGD (they will grow much more slowly).
