If you select "other?", leave a note with what the "other?" thing is.

I"m posting this because i need to get out of my cresteds for a bit and am trading a couple for a pair of common ball's. I know all the above are ok for snakes, i'm just curious what yall use.

Aspen

my brother's milk snake choked on a bark chip, so i shy away from big wood peices.

aspen shavings or coco fiber chunks.  cedar is toxic to snakes.

i use newspaper but i dont liek it not really attractive. Bark is a good place for mites to breed, no good for the snake

I use a combination of paper towels and disposeable cage liners and also aspen for my kingsnakes.

I've seen people use kind of a turf for substrate, I guess it's easy to clean and a step up in attractiveness from newspaper

Eco Earth - my dumerils likes to burrow. I kept my ball pythons on paper towels.

Because I have trouble keeping ambient humidity in the room I currently keep my snakes in at an acceptable level, I use cypress mulch.  Once I finish my new room I'll be able to move to paper because it is cleaner.  With cypress, I haven't had one bad shed.  However, it isn't very environmentally friendly, hence the switch to paper.

i know i am late on this...  i have two corn snakes, and i am a newbie with snakes.  i have been using aspen bedding.  hope this is ok.  my snakes like to tunnel into the aspen.  i always put enough in there so they can.  they shed fine, and i don't know of any reason why to *not* use it, so please tell me if i should be doing something different.
thanks!

Sand for the sand boas/hognose, and generally cypress or Jungle Mix for anything needing some humidity (boas, balls), and I like beta/sani chips for corns and kings.

Of course, none of the above if you feed in-tank.  An accidental mouthful of ANYTHING can be bad!  Lips Sealed

Cedar is EVIL for anything but a flea repellent in a dog bed.  Tongue

I don't like turf for snakes since most have undertank heaters, and there is no "buffer" if they bury.  Cheesy
