We jut got our Lateralis roach colony from Reptayls Ltd. ?We got 250 of them. ?They came really quick and they all look good. ?There were a ton more babies than adults though. ?We will tell you if we have any luck with them, feeding them to the cresties.

You're not going to start feeding them right away are you? With only 250 I would think you'd want to grow your colony considerably before feeding many, especially if most are nymphs. I'm finally to the point where I'm producing way more than I can feed off, but I started with 500+ adults and let them "percolate" in a hot garage most of the summer. You want to make sure your colony is self sustaining before feeding too many. If you just bought them to feed, it would probably be cheaper to just feed crickets.

No, I'm not going to feed them off right away.? I might feed a few just to see how they like them, but I am definately going to let the colony grow a bit before I start feeding them to anything.

Just curious.  I have a very small colony of Discoids, then I have the 250 lateralis.  I was wondering if they can be housed together.  Will they kill eachother? Will this slow down reproduction?  They seem to have pretty much the same needs, but the discoids are alot bigger.

Why not experiment with a small number of each in a smaller container and see what they do?

They're from completely different genera and reproduce very differently, so hybridization shouldn't be a problem. They'd probably do fine together if you want to mix them. Personally, I'd rather keep my groups separate. When they start to take off, sorting them would be a pain, especially if you ever want to sell any.

Right, but at the moment I have the discoids in a small container and my lateralis in a huge container.  I will probably keep them seperate anyways though.

Personally I'd keep them seperate. Don't worry about the lateralis being small. When I got mine they were pretty small and within a few weeks I definitely notice a size difference.
