Just got my first garg today, he/she is awesome!! i will get pics up when he is more settled. Anyway gave him in a large screen cage with some fake vines, and a hide on the bottom. Going to be feeding cgd tonight. What is the humidity supposed to be for a gargoyle? Just double checking myself to make sure i got this perfect. thanks!

Every thing is the same for a gargoyle care wise as cresteds, I do tend to provide bigger climbing vines and bigger hides because they can't climb as well and they are pudgier than cresteds. Also I would go and get some gargoyle gecko diet made from repashy as well. It has more protein in it than the cgd, to make up for not eating crickets (I only have one gargoyle that will go after prey items).
Best of luck with you new little guy!

i don't even have a hygrometer in twix's screen cage (though the humidity in my house is below 50% in winter and summer), just mist moderately once every night.

you may not want to get it started on GGD if it hasn't already been eating it, because it has been discontinued http://www.forums.repashy.com/showthread.php?t=8344

holy crap!! I didn't know this! Thanks for letting me know! Wow, I'm a little scared to switch my guys over, especially the ones that need the extra protein. I tried the nectar diet, and don't like messing with mixing it up (I know I'm lazy!).

On the link given Repashy said he had been feeding his, and they were doing ok. I think I may just add a bit of base to the CGD to add a little bit more for them, but who knows if they will get enough protein? UGH!!!!!

you're not the only one Wink

but yeah, i think they do fine on just the CGD, repashy said the growth rates were the same, i know tamara at dirty stinky stuff uses it for her gargs.

If you read through that thread on Repashy, he goes into what to do about the nectar/bases for the gargs. In essence, it is all the same sort of thing, except that the GGD had more protein. When mixing the nectar with the base though, just add more base, as there is more protein to this part of the mix. The nectar is a whole heck of a lot of flavoring and sugars to make it sweet. The base is what contains the most important parts, and the nectar/base diets will be fine to feed to your gargoyle geckos.

It may take some time switching over, but from what we all know (I hope) is that going cold turkey with this on gargoyles would be like switching over a crested from baby food. They won't starve themselves to death, and will eventually take to the food.

They will be perfectly fine with CGD without the nectar.  Mine have actually started growing faster & eating a lot more since i started giving cgd instead of crickets.

Are you saying that you actually feed just the base? Or do you mean just the regular CGD, not the two-part diets?
