A lot of you guys talk about having chahouas and leachies and I was thinking about getting one (just one!)
I've seen some pics of both but I can't really make out too many differences.
I was wondering if someone could explain to me what the differences between the two are.
I know one of them gets really big, and that one seems to me to come in a lot less colors than the other,
but I really don't remember my facts =/
someone help?

Chewies are generally not as big, have longer tails and  some more colors.  Leachies are cool cuz they get big and many varieties have interesting coloration (like pink blotches)

Depends.  If ya like size and want an impressive large animal Leachie.

If you like some nice color patterns and a more "expressive" looking animal get a chewy.(leachies --and I love and have three of the-- do have a rather blank and expressionless face)

The Chahoua get a total length of about 10 inches. Isle of pine chahoua get a little bigger than Mainlands. They also seem to get more pattern and color brown, green, red, pink. They can get bands of white over the end and shoulders.

I'm starting to look into Leachianus. I think most of the time you'll find the gecs that get up to 15 inches long. Some get even bigger. From what I've seen the Nuu Ana  leachianus seem to get the better color and pattern. But like I said... Starting to look into  Wink

I don't know. I guess I'll have to do some extensive research. a Pros and Cons kind of thing, if you will.
I'm so stoked though, I saw either a leachie or chahoua at a reptile show I went to in richmond nov 4th,
(Someone told me what it was but, not knowing about anything other than cresteds at the time, I forgot)
but i fell in LOVE with that guy. I loved it because it looked so fat and chunky. SO cute. and it was a beautiful
bright yellow-green and white kind of mottling. really baggy soft looking skin. bright blue eyes.
That's what I want now. I guess I gotta look around and find a guy that looks like that.
How are they behavior-wise? Can i handle them?
I have four crested babies and supposedly babies are difficult to handle, but mine are so chill they just
relax with me. I guess because I'm always around ;] not sure.
Anyway. If anyone knows of a gecko similar to that I'd be very very interested.
Hatchling or adult. Either is fine with me.
thanks loves :]

the yellow/green white mottling makes it sound like leachie to me Undecided maybe somebody else with more expierience with them could help you. I have personally never seen a chahoua with yellow green and white mottling...

i see that leachianus are going down in price, i see them everywhere for around $300, this time last year babies where over $500, chahouas are staying the same price and are harder to find right now, i have both, but i got my chahoua 1st because of the price at the time, it would be worth it to get a baby leachianus, you could always sell it when it gets too big...and make alittle money on it, some adults go for $1000 and up, all on kingsnake, alot of different locals

you could but IMO if you cant keep an animal full grown, you shouldnt really get it in the first place. How would you know if somebody will buy it...although the animal wre talking about theres a big chance of finding it another home..

(but the size thing is really for another thread)

I'm not really the kind of person who can sell an animal that I've had and grown up by myself. =/
I get attached to things really easily.
But the size thing isn't really an issue, it couldn't possibly get big enough to the point where I wouldn't want it anymore.
and I'm sure I can get an appropriate home for it.
I just want that exact gecko.
Yeah I definitely looked up some leachies and that's what I'm thinking of.
If yall know of anybody who has any babies...you know who to call ;]

I don't know where you got this but OK...

If you were replying to what was said by portal_reptiles, he was simply saying that the price for an adult leachie is much greater than the initial cost of the babys, and there is a big extreme. I see nothing wrong with selling off older stock to get new blood and such. Not all the time are people selling adults because they can't house them (like the bigger snakes).

I got it from portal...
you could always sell it when it gets too big...

bit now that i re-read it i think that portal meant raise it from a young age and sell it for cash...but when he said "you could always sell it when it gets TOO big" i think i took it to mean like too big to home. Oh i dont know...im confused.
