What do you guys think is best to feed gargoyle geckos? I just got my little guy yesterday at the white plains show and is wondering what i should feed him/her. I offered crickets last night but it didn't eat any. I think thats probably just beacause its stressed out and needs some time to aclimate itself. Anyway what do you guys feed your gargs?

Thanks  Grin

just give it CGD along with your cresteds and offer insects once a week.  there is a gargoyle gecko diet, but the amount you would have to buy wouldn't last for just one gecko, plus i think it's getting phased out anyway.  repashy is pretty much using CGD for all his rhacs.  do you know what it was eating before you bought it?  how big is it?  i feed 2 gargs and the baby doesn't really go after crickets right away and phoenix worms didn't work either.  the older one ate crickets like crazy when i got her (she was a few months old already) but now, she's about a year old and hardly eats them at all.

I think the guy said mealworms but that didnt make sence to me. He also said he fed his cresteds mealworms. I asked about crickets and he said it should go after them. It's about 2 and a half inches maybe 3 inches total length. I feed mostly CGD mixed with baby food. Do you think it will go for that? Tonight i will try mixing some CGD and baby food and see what happens. It has been on the ground mostly. I just tried picking it up and it really didnt move to get away. Do you think that is normal? It doesnt seem skinny or anything just hasn't climbed much. It is in a ten gallon tank right now.

just feed it straight CGD, no babyfood.  don't offer any crickets until it's eating the CGD.

my older one hangs out on the ground mostly too.  the little one doesn't try to get away when you pick it up either, but it usually pees on you Cheesy  but i would try to handle your gecko as little as possible for the next 2 weeks to let it settle in.  it also may not eat much during this transition time.

Alright i'll try that tonight. Last night it didn't touch any of the baby food mixed wit CGD... I thought i would try because all my cresteds love it. Is it me or the CGD is like a blackish color. When i do what the instructions say it looks horrible. Is it just me or thats how it is suppose to look? lol Sorry for all the questions and thanks for the help  Smiley Oh and yea i know im not gonna handle it for another few weeks...

well, it's just a baby so you probably won't notice it eating unless you put a very thin layer of food in a plastic bottle cap or 3/4 oz. souffle cup.  and i would give it a couple weeks to settle in anyway.  once you start seeing poop, you'll know it's eating.  you don't really have to worry about it.

are you using the t-rex stuff out of the little bottle with the purple lid or the repashy foil pouch?  it should be sort of orange with black specks and not super thick or super runny.  it turns black when it dries out.  you should change it every other day or 3 times a week.

it didnt eat cuz its a little nervous.
feed cgd no baby food and offer crickets about 1or 2 times a week since they need more protien in their diet than cresteds.
