I figured that I would be the first post in this section by putting up a few photos of my new colony.  They are actually pretty neat to watch and everybody enjoys eating them.

What are you feeding them?  and do you notice any odor with them?

I just recently did some reading about these and heard that they are great roaches.  Supposedly they don't climb or fly, breed easliy (and are easy to sex), and have very little odor.  I am interested in trying a colony out for myself, but before I do I want to see if anyone has experience with cresteds eating them.  I know my beardies will eat them without hesitation but I only have 3 beardies and I don't want to keep a colony of roaches just for them (as much as I love them...) Anyone tried them with cresties?

we have latteralis roaches which are really easy to take care of sexing is easy. they dont climb the sides and really dont smell. the hatchlings are just small enough for a hatchling house gecko and the adults are liek the size of a large cricket.

The roaches can't climb the sides of the container.  I did however put a ring of vasaline around the rim of the container, just to make sure none escape.  I am feeding them a high protein roach diet that I bought with them as well as water crystals and fresh fruit ever few days.  They do have a certain odor to them, but by all means it is not offensive and only smells when you are right in the cage.  I order large nymphs so that it would take less time for them to become sexually mature, but i picked out a few of the smaller ones and my cresteds tore them apart.  I am going to have to pick up a few more reptiles or I will be over run with cockroaches in no time.

I got my roaches a few days ago. I ordered mixed nymphs and 10 pairs of adults.  They were awesome and sent like 15 pairs!  I fed all of the little guys out and the cresties tore them apart!!!  I can't wait for mine to start breeding!!  Anyone know how long it takes?
