I don't know why so many folks consider them garbage geckos.  I guess the cheap price.  They are really one of the most beautiful and colorful geckos.   (disposition aside -- though CB ones have been known to tolerate handling without trying to bite)

Cool picture.

if you get a wc one it can be pretty vicious but i heard cb ones arent really that bad specially if you try to hold them when they are small.

They are ornery but if I had space and time I would most definitely have a pair.  When I worked in NYC at a Petland (five years before electricity was invented)  we had a huge trade in Tokays.  Folks would come to store and buy them and release them in their apartments to eat all the roaches. Invevitably they would return within  a week or two to buy crickets to release in their apartments because the tokay had eaten all the bugs and they could not catch him.  Pretty neat little buggers.  One lady call all excited because she found eggs in one of her plants!!

Hmmm Maybe I should buy one and just release it in the house to catch all the stray crickets that hit the ground when I feed.

And it's not fun being bitten by an adult Tokay Wink  They dont let go.  I would rather take a bite from a big snake than a big tokay Tongue  but they are fun to keep.  They make the tooo-kkk-aaa--yyy sound at night and I think they are some of the nicest looking geckos.

I had a flying gecko for a while  That used to find a  way out of its tank all the time.  I could never figure it out.  Then after a while we had a system down.  I would take a bag of crickets and shake them and he would come running from where ever he was get back into the tank and wait to be fed.  He was a cutie.

I think tokays are awesome. I used to have a female who was the most docile tokay I've ever seen. She never even barked at me. Her mate was the devil though. When I first got him, I held him a lot to try to tame him. Once when I was holding him, he jumped from my hand and bit my nose and stayed latched on for a little over a hour and a half. But after a few months of handling him he mellowed out a lot and would let me hold him.

I handled all of their babies a lot and they were completely tame as well. I sold all of them a couple years ago though, but I had to have one again, so I bought a juvenile tokay a couple days ago. He's already mellowing out a little.
