I have two questions concerning my pairings this year.? First of all, I had 2 different males breed with the same female this season but I haven't talk to many people with personal experience doing this.? Have any of you done this and if so did the offspring appear to be mixed or from one father or the other??

The second question deals with the geckos mentioned above.? Here is the female that both of the males bred:?

One of the males that bred her was a bright orange flame that made quite a bit of sense to pair with her.? The other was this male, which I thought would be interesting to pair with her for his crests and pattern.

I was just wondering if any of you had experience matching a nicely patterned gecko to one with good color.? I figure it'd take some selective breeding to get some nice colorful harleys from these two, but I'd be interested to hear some predictions on what they'll turn out in the first generation.? Her first clutch should hatch in about a month, so it'll be a while before I get any definite answers.? I just thought I'd see what those with more experience think.? Thanks.

Nice geckos!

You'd be surprised.  I've paired up two differently colored geckos on many occasions.  Some offspring will look like dad, some will look like mom and some will be a mixture...that applies to color and pattern.

With a pairing like that, you almost have to raise the babies up for 4-6 months to know which one they'll look like...and then another 3-4 months to know how intense/clean the color will be.

Thanks, I plan on keeping the ones with the most harley pattern back for several months to see how the color develops.  Hopefully those who get any others from me will keep me posted on how they turn out as well so I can get a better idea on how they'll develop from these 2.

By the way, here's the other male that bred her.  If any come out looking like him I plan on holding them back as well.

Both males look great.  I would be happy if they turned out like either one of them  Wink

Nice, you might stand a good chance of getting a true creamsickle out of that second male.
