A friend recently gave me a bunch of manzanita branches. I would love to have them as horizontal perches but am not sure how to mount them. Any pointers?

Maybe hot glue? I just put mine vertically going from the top of the cage to the bottom. A PVC mount might work too.

Mounts like for bird perches, or possibly even like what holds the ends of the closet rods in place.

The mounts are probably your best bet.  You stick them to the sides of the cage and the branches will sit on them.
