I was told by a breeder that you should use screened sided cages and not glass or plastic since those could cause droopy or floppy tail syndrome.  Has anyone else ever heard of this too?  Can any experienced breeders/owners agree or disagree with this statement?  I want to get a new cage and am worried about what I get.  Thanks!!

what causes FTS is you crestie always hanging out upside down. the weight of the tails causes a strain to the already weak muscles causing the tail to flop over. it doesnt matter what type of cage you have. what matters is that you provide  horizontal perches for your crestie to rest on. another reason i have heard that causes FTS is genetics.

I have never seen or heard of that.  The only two reasons I know are from hanging upside down and if they get mbd.

Your gecko can get floppy tail from plastic, glass or screen cages if she is upside down on the side of the cage.

No, it's not true, it's better to use glass cages for humidity purposes.  If they are going to get floppy tail, they are going to get it either way.

How would it make a difference?  What would a screen side compaired to a glass side have to do with floppy tail?  I don't know who told you this, but I don't know where they get their info from.

If a "breeder" told you that screen cages are better than glass or plastic cages for cresteds.......i would not take ANY advice from them, period.

Thank you everyone.  I was wondering myself why glass VS screen would make any difference.  The logic didn't make sense to me either.
