I've seen a few posts referencing nocturnal lighting. Mostly from what I gather, the lunar lights seem to be used by quite a few of you. I'm using these mini LED blue lights made by Current USA, I think it is. Apparently, cresteds can't see blue light, right? Current USA also make the same thing in red which may or may not be better. From what I can tell, my crested will not venture about his tank when I have these lunar lights on, even when the whole rest of the room is dark. He just hides in the darkest area and waits. When I provide total darkness, he moves around alot. Obviously he sees this wavelength of blue light. Any thoughts?

from another forum:

Lizards have keen vision for daylight (retinas rich in both cones and rods); although one group, the nocturnal geckos, has pure rod retinas for night vision.

Notice the colour spectrum for rod retina/vision...

it looks like certain blues may fall into their visible light spectrum.  red seems to be further away and may give you better results.  of course, i don't have any idea what i'm talking about  Grin
