Hi,  I have a question about mold in the tank. I am using bed-a-beast and have a grapevine sitting on the substrate. I am seeing white fibers (looks like start of mold or fungi) around the bottom of the grapevine where it sits in the substrate. I've cleaned the grapevine and have stirred up the substrate but within a day or so the white fibers come back. Is there anything that can be done or do I just need to clean the grapevine and substrate every couple of days. I don't believe I am over misting or that the enclosure is to wet or humid. I'm not sure why the white fibers come back so quickly. I saw the suggestions about cleaning and using healthy habitat and will give that a try. Just looking to see what thoughts are out there? Thanks. By the way, I'm new to the forum, just got two crested geckos. I've been into leopard geckos for years and have several.

can you discribe the tank set up a bit more...other furniture, how often you mist, is the substrate moist, bare dry yadda yadda...
it sounds like the dirt is too damp and in not enough light. mold likes wet & dark. i've had it mold on me before as well.

The tank is an exo-terra 12x12x18 with two small crested geckos.  There is a grapevine sitting in the bed-a-beast and several fake vines hanging on the side.  The substrate is damp but not overly wet.  I mist it each night about 9:00pm but not extensively.

also... the room is naturally lite from just the regular windows so it's not overally bright but subtle during the day.

I've done my best at this point to clean everything, take as much moisture out of the substrate as I can and am not going to mist for a day or two.

We'll see what happens.

hurmm...do your best to mist the sides rather then dirt., you can keep the vine up for the next week while you're letting it dry out some.

Sounds good.  I'll try to really dry it out over the next few days and then mist less and only the sides.

We'll see what happens...

Thanks...

It sounds like there's not enough airflow getting to the bottom of the tank.  During the day when you are by the tank open the exo terra up.  Just make sure you are close enough so that you can watch the little guy inside from escaping.  That should do it.

So, any suggestions on how to increase airflow.  I have the geckos in a standard 12x12x18 exo-terra.

i have an issue with the exo terra's with air flow... i use papertowels and i clean them more than the other cages because the bottom either gets moldy or theres alot of water laying on the buying.  i like the cages i wanna know how to increase air flow too.

computer fan's are pretty cheap. i've used them to add airflow to glass tanks converted into mini greenhouses.
they clip on easy and are always available at used computer stores.
