This is probably a silly question, but what do you all use as a food dish for your geckos? I just have the cap from a water bottle, and I'm sure there must be something better than that to use.

for babies?  0.75 oz. souffle cups and when they get big enough to knock those over, plastic juice bottle lids (or the purple lids off the bottles of CGD)

In the small animal section of PetSmart, they have tiny little bowls that look just like dog\cat food dishes with the tip-proof sides.  they hold about  1/8 to 1/4 cup, and they cost about 99 cents.

Solo cup caps work well. I try to avoid disposable stuff and use the caps from Reptomin bottles (plastic and re usable and we get thousands of reptomin samples from companies for the turtle rescue)

Caps from the babyfood jars are okay but they do not last long and need to be tossed at the slightest sign of corroscion. (sp??)

There's no PetSmart anywhere near where I live, so that's out.

What are solo cups?

I also use small ceramic kidney-shaped bowls that are sold in most pet shops. The nice thing about these is that they're shallow, and you can tell the geckos are eating.

Depending on the size, they range in price from about $2.99-6.99.

They're washable, and the CGD just rinses right out because they aren't textured inside like a lot of the bowls used for feeding insects.

What are solo cups?

any small, shallow, smooth dish will work, your local petstore should have a variety.

"Solo Cup Company is a $2.3 billion publicly reporting company headquartered in Highland Park, Illinois. Exclusively focused on the manufacture of disposable tableware and packaging for the consumer/retail, foodservice, packaging, and international markets, Solo has broad expertise in plastic, paper, and foam disposables."

solo is just a brand name, they're more expensive than other brands, so just buy whatever you can.  if you have a smart & final, they will carry the plastic souffle portion cups.

We use bottle caps, like gatorade bottle caps and such for our smaller geckos.  Then we use those small animal containers as the above, but we put 2 oz sample cups in them for easier clean up and the cup wont tip.

I use bottle caps for the little ones.  I especially like the gatorade lids.  Since my son plays sports I make him turn over his lid everytime he opens one (about 6-7 per week).  I also like the lids from the pint sized water bottles.  For the grown ups I use the gecko stands from Pangea Reptile with 1 ounce cups for water and 1/2 ounce souffle cups for food (acemart.com).  I throw out a lot less food since I've been using them.
