I read somewhere the the chahoua's where not of the Rhacodactylus family, is this true...?? On forums.repashy.com i found Allen Repashy taking about the name change, that they are a different species...thanks..lp

the manager over at pet'acular exotics was telling me the same thing....i think he said they're reclassifying trachys too and maybe even leachies some day.  i hate when they do that.  Angry

Well I talked to Rich the owner of Pet'acular and he said that they are trying to do it. Has not been done yet, no schedule date.

Joe... Many people have done this cross and proven it to be fertile.. search the forums here and you will get some accounts..

As far as species classification goes.... it has been proven that this is not always an accurate determination (ability to cross breed or produce fertile young) there are plenty of king/corn/milk crosses out there that have been bred for generations... also, the chahoua according to Bauer, isn't even a Rhacodactylus, and will be reclassified into a monotypic genus or Eurydactylodes which it is genetically closer to than Rhacodactylus....

It is kind of annoying when the names switch, but it is done for a reason. They don't make those changes unless they KNOW that there is a difference and it makes sense to do it that way. It will be interesting to see when it will change and to what.

pretty sure they will be called eurydactylodes chahoua or be put into a whole new genus
