Best caging for cilatus...

Ok throughout many of the forums there's always people asking whats the best housing....If you go to  www.reptiledepot.com ,supplies and screen cages its the 3rd one.... It's perfect to house up to a pair....Easy to clean and decorate...I have about 12 of these...I use carpet cage or papertowels on bottem, hot glue corkbark on the back wall and use flex branches and vines secured to the top screen...I believe the measurements are 23' 16' 16'.... I hope this helps any beginners..

I will have to agree! I started with the Exo Terras, the largest which is 18x18x24. I have four of these still, but the Reptile Depot Crestie cages are so much easier to access, lighter and have better breathability.

ill agree, they look like really good cages. i just wish the bottom access door was  plexi or something similar. a very good choice if you use papwer towel as a substate adn feed non climbing insects or non insect diets

You can actually buy them directly from the guy that makes them, without going through Reptile Depot, and he'll make you a solid bottom access door panel.

Missouri does have crappy humidity issues. I mist 2x a day and they seem to do alright. But if I skip and only mist 1x a day, I can see the difference with the cresties.

i love my exo terra cage, i don't care for the screen cages because i think that the visiability sucks.

I like the Exo-terra tanks, but those tanks from Reptile Depot look great, too! I wouldn't mind getting a couple during warmer days over here in So. California. I have a couple of full-screen cages, already. I like the combo of the plexi-glass, pvc backing and the screen tank.

Yep, the doors and the top are screen, the bottom access panel is also screen. We actually looked into making our own, but the frame pieces have to be purchased in lots, so too expensive. I guess we could check around at a few window places and see if they'd sell us their scrap pieces.

I have both the Exo-Terra's and the screen cages and my personal opinion is that the Exo-Terra's are a PITA to clean and move. I'm keeping the 4 I have, two for gargolyes and two for satanic setups. My cresteds will remain in the crestie cages...just so much easier.

This question is really for anyone living in the Northeast, I'm in New York.  I was wondering which cage they preferred, the screen one on reptile depot or the exo-terras, judging by the climate, humidity, and such of this part of the country.  Thanks for any feedback.

well im in NY as well
and an all screen one will not hold humidity very wellso i opted for the exoterra
the crested cage, which looks like only the front and top are screen, might be better than the all screen ones
i really like the exoterra, but will most likely look into alternative methods for money purposes. the ones from reptile depot are cheaper but with a little time and research i hope to buy and modify ones for at least half that price....least thats what i hope

i use mainly all screen Reptariums, but i also live in the NorthWest, in a house where humidity isn't really an issue. i mist twice a day during the summer, once the rest of the year. they're easy enough to move around and clean out, fairly inexpensive for the size as well. i'm not fond of plexiglass because it scratches & can warp so easy.

I like the looks of these tanks. Only thing I would like to do is put a wood or some sort of case around the sides so it stays pretty private for them, since they'll be in mine, and my sisters' bedroom. Anyway they could do that? I was going to build my own, but now seeing this, I'll probably go this way.

I have the largest exo-terra, and I live in Maryland. When I keep them in the basement, I need a heat lamp at night. I am going to start making my own out of wood and screen so I don't have to worry about prices as much. Plus, I have a crestie that can't climb class very well but has perfectly functioning toes. (There is no stuck shed on its toes, I have checked), so a screen would be nice for him.

odd, i dont think i have ever had a crested that could go up the glass...but i have only had 50 or so....that would be funny to see...lol

The only time I have a problem is when I noticed I was misting a bit much. I would make sure you let your cages dry out on occasion. The only other time I notice this is when I am switching them to a brand new cage. I also have a few of these cages and love them, very easy to clean and makes it easy to feed.

The website for the manufacturer is www.habitatdesigns.tv, the last time I talked to them they only sell the "crested gecko" enclosure to reptile depot.  Maybe if more people request it they might start selling them on their website.  The quality of these cages is descent, they seem to be a little flimsier than I would like.  I am using the 36x18x18 for my cresties, the difference is that this one is larger and screen on all side compared to the reptile depot cage.  Humidity hasn't been an issue for me, I have many live plants and vines growing in it, and I also mist 2-3 times per day.  If you look bellow I have an early picture of how I had it setup when I first got it,  I have since made improvements to help keep humidity locked in.  Oh and if anyone is wondering the food stand that pangea reptiles sells are great!
