i am trying to set up a new bigger tank..for my crested and i wanted to get some wood...or just things for him to climb up on..besides plants..i already have a bunch of those...i was wondering if something like   dowel rods ....or just wooden rods from a hardware store would  work ok..  i cant seem to find fake branches.....

You can use tree branches as long as you scrub them well in hot water, then dry\bake them in the oven.  I usually bake them at 200 to 250 for about 30 minutes.  That will kill anything bad on them.  Just keep a eye on them to make sure they don't burn.

They have those artificial jungle vines and I have used bamboo (Be sure to plug up the ends if you thick use bamboo so they don't crawl in and get stuck.)
Corkbark tubes, sand blasted grape vine are all good options as well.

i use those jungle vines and real sticks from outside. definatly cook them! do it on a warm day because sometimes they stink and you'l want to keep the doors open Tongue

Thanks for the ideas...not be a dummy but ..where do u find cork bark.?   i like the bamboo idea also..what do use to plug the ends?  let me know if i ask 2 many questions.

look around your pet stores, some have it, some don't. anything you want, that's not toxic, can plug the holes up. some GreatStuff would probably do the trick nicely.

Aquarium silicon works well to...and you can use it to glue pieces together or attach to a piece of slate to make it stand better-then bury the slate under the substrate.
