LOL I like his overbite too, I think it gives him character Smiley
He was already an adult when I got him, but he has put on quite a bit of weight, and an over all stockiness.

That is great Katie, this will be you first chewie, right? You will love them! Like slow goofy cresties, with a TON of wrinkles Grin

Yes, and no...
The underbite could have developed due to poor nutrition or because he is half mainland. The mainland chahouas were brought over here to the US a lot earlier than the P.I. What happened was that there was only a small group to work with and some characteristics started to pop up. Such as bug eyes and underbites.
I can't be sure what to pin on this guy because I did get him as an adult and he already had the underbite.
If you would like to know more about the Mainland and P.I.s just look them up on the Repashy forums, there has been much discussion about them.

Thanks Andrew!

I used a Nikon coolpix s1, though it is all in the setup! I use a rubbermaid container and put poster board in it then clamp some spot lights on the side to have lots of light.

ciliatus are the only ones that don't regenerate tails, but chahouas are less likely to drop them in the first place.  i don't think the new tails can coil though.

Mine originated from Repashy as well, I think as long as the diet is good, then yes they are fine.
I just use two to three 75 watt bulbs, just the regular kind.

I thought Chahoua tails didn't grow back.... Yours looks like it has a regrown tail.

Chahoua can regenerate their tails (as you can see mine did) BUT it has to be dropped in the right place, and such. Most of the time they don't re-grow.

ciliatus are the only ones that don't regenerate tails, but chahouas are less likely to drop them in the first place.  i don't think the new tails can coil though.

Yes crested are the only ones in the Rach genus that can't re-grow their tails. The new tails can curl and even have a small lamellae at the end, though they aren't as long nor as prehensile but they do still work.

I took a good 3-4 months for him to totally re-grow it back, when he first started re-growing it it was just a little nub. Smiley
